The recent February 2025 PPR Japan Open held in Tzu City witnessed an inspiring display of skill, resilience, and determination from SHOT3-sponsored and PCP-certified coaches Johnny Choo and Kok Yoke Kheng, who battled their way to bronze in their respective 50+ men’s and women’s doubles categories.


With a style of play characterised by guile, wit, and tactical brilliance, both Johnny and Yoke Kheng demonstrated their deep understanding of the game, navigating through intense matchups to secure a well-earned third-place finish. Their strategic shot placement, court awareness, and ability to outmaneuver their opponents made the difference in the final push for the podium. Jaime Wong Captures Maiden Title with a Stunning Comeback


Meanwhile, SHOT3-sponsored athlete Jaime Wong delivered one of the most electrifying comebacks of the tournament, capturing her maiden 35+ women’s doubles title in spectacular fashion. After facing a tough start, Jaime dug deep, finding another gear when it mattered most. Her unwavering resolve, tactical adjustments, and fearless shot-making turned the tide, proving that mental fortitude is just as crucial as skill in pickleball. With this triumph, Jaime cements her place as a rising force in international competition, further elevating SHOT3’s reputation in supporting top-tier athletes.


Other Notable Results


Another remarkable performance came from the returning James Yong, who made his competitive comeback after more than a year out due to injury. Partnering with PCP Head Coach Darren Ho, the duo displayed resilience and chemistry, making a strong run in the 35+ men’s doubles event and finishing in a respectable 4th place. Despite falling just short of the podium, their performance showed immense promise, marking a successful return for James and reaffirming Darren’s reputation as a formidable competitor and elite coach on the international stage.


Silver for the Advanced Team


The FPF Advanced Team, consisting of James Yong, Jerry Luo, April Ma, and Jessie Koh, put on a stellar display throughout the tournament, fighting their way to a well-earned silver medal. With a mix of tactical precision, teamwork, and relentless spirit, they overcame formidable opponents and showcased why FPF is a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.


Bronze for the Open Team


Meanwhile, the FPF Open Team, featuring Darren Ho, Johnny Choo, Kok Yoke Kheng, and Jaime Wong, demonstrated grit and resilience in a highly competitive field, clinching bronze in the Open Team event. Their ability to adapt, strategise, and bring their A-game under pressure was a testament to their experience, skill, and unwavering team chemistry.
